Your Instructor:

Dave Soltura is an international Filipino voice actor specializing in animation, children’s media, and video games.

His most prominent role is as the voice behind the titular character, Talking Tom, in the popular Talking Tom Shorts series, starting Season 2 (2019). Additionally, he lends his vocal talents to the supporting characters Ben and Hank, as well as the antagonist Roy. As these characters, he has helped the channel grow to over 30 million subscribers and 15 billion views.

Besides his work in animation, Dave regularly collaborates with brands like McDonald’s, Mountain Dew, and Grab on national commercials. His voice echoes across six continents, and he’s delivered more than 500 professional recordings to his US clients, all from his Los Angeles-ready studio in the Philippines.

On the education front, Dave has taken a step towards empowering aspiring Filipino voice artists by founding Voice Actors at Home PH. As the head coach of this voice acting community, he is driven by a passion to mentor and guide Filipinos towards full-time voice acting careers.

FAQs:

Q: Is this for beginners?

This course is for voice actors of all levels. I got my first Fiverr voiceover project as a broke college kid in 2013. But the more experience you have, the more you can earn.

Q: Is the course live, or pre-recorded?

A: It’s pre-recorded and you can watch it at your own pace.

Q: Do I need to be great at acting to succeed on Fiverr?

A: You can get work on Fiverr even as an absolute beginner, but the real, full-time income comes in when you’re an excellent actor. The income grows with your acting skill.

Q: How much time do I need to invest in a week?

A: In the beginning, let’s assume 15-20 hours per week, but it also depends on how good your gig is. I’m in a place where I only spend 5 hours a week maximum on Fiverr. 5 hours a month is more common to me now.

Q: I only record in Tagalog. Is this for me?

A: Several voice actors are doing great on Fiverr with just their Tagalog gigs. Some have far from perfect English, and they still get English work.

Q: Is it a good way to begin working with international clients?

A: Definitely. In fact, it was thanks to Fiverr that I had the guts to move on to more conventional forms of getting work, such as cold-emailing. If not for Fiverr, I wouldn’t have booked bigger clients.

Q: Is this for commercial, character, or narration voice overs?

The principles and strategies in this course apply to all genres of voice acting.

Q: Will I get blacklisted from agencies?

A: Some will blacklist you, some won’t. It’s up to you if you think it matters. Personally, I can defend myself by saying that I charge industry-standard rates, or don’t work with national-level clients on the platform, so I have a clear conscience that I’m not bringing the industry down. It’s not the platform that has issues– it’s how you use it. If you have big dreams like getting cast for union work with Disney, this may not be for you. But if you’re the type who just needs to put food on your table and you enjoy any kind of voice acting, this is definitely for you. I’m a bit of both, and for my situation, it’s worth it.

P.S. I have a trusted collleague mention agencies that used to have “will not work with Fiverr talent” signs on their website. But many agents have retracted them.

Q: Do you issue refunds?

Not at this time.

Q: I have an old Fiverr account and I've gotten no projects. Can I still get work?

Absolutely. I started on Fiverr in 2010 with joke gigs, but it wasn’t until I took it seriously in 2016 that the algorithm began to give me better projects.
